Theresa is in the Czech Republic for much of the summer... She is staying with Jan's Uncle Otik and his family. Otik is a forester, so Theresa is spending lots of time in the Czech national forestlands. Theresa is also spending time with Jan's parents Dana and Standa. Standa recently bought some land and is planting a forest. Right now Standa's forest is quite young--but it should grow into a nice mixed hardwood and softwood stand.

Here are some pictures of her stay so far...

Set Three:

Otik took Theresa up to a deer stand in the forest one evenining hoping to see some wildlife. The first good sighting they had was of this Roe Buck. This is actually a nice buck. He was munching on some grain or something that had been spread out near the stand...
This Roe Buck was so confident he decided to lie down and take a nap.
Soon after the Roe Buck wandered off to eat grass, Theresa and Otik spotted this young guy--a Red Deer! Or Stag! Or European Elk! Or Jelen (auf Czech). Or whatever you want to call it! Yay! This is the first Red Deer Theresa has ever seen.
This is about the time the Red Deer smelled/heard Otik, Theresa and Pina. He made a quick exit. Theresa thinks this Red Deer is much smarter than the Roe Buck--he will probably live a little longer.
And, finally, this is Pina! What a nice little doggie!

Set Two:

This was a different day that Theresa was up at Standa's forest. She tried to take a picture of herself while she took a walk into the real forest. Theresa should try to get somebody else to take pictures of her... maybe she could if she didn't look so crabby.
Soon before attempting to take pictures of herself, Theresa had better luck taking a picture of this Roe Doe. Roe Deer are much more photogenic than Theresa...
Later that day, a logging truck dropped off some posts. Standa needs to build a fence around his forest--since the Roe Deer like to eat baby trees. Guess it serves us right, since we like to eat Roe Deer...
Here is a view of the village from Standa's forest. Jan's grandmother used to live here. I'm not going to try and spell the name of the village...
Here is a closer up shot of the windmill that overlooks the un-spellable village.
Here is a picture of Standa's forest... nice view! Too bad he had to go and plant trees that will eventually obstruct the nice view.
Yet another picture of the view... ahh...

Set One

This is a baby Roe Deer. Mom left her to go eat--and it was baby's job to sit still, even while Theresa took some pictures. This was near Standa's forest.
Theresa saw this hare while in the forest one day. She was waiting for the forester to check a beatle trap when she saw the hare walking down the trail. The hare didn't notice Theresa until the moment the picture was taken--he then turned around and ran away...
Jan had pet snails when he was a child. Jakub ate the smartest snail, which also happend to be Jan's favorite snail. Theresa sees lots of snails in the forest and thinks of Jan...

Need I say more?

Here is Theresa in the forest near a cave.
Here is Dana and Standa at Standa's forest. The forest is kinda young...
